Born into a musically inclined family,
Carl Anderson AKA DJ Wilder began taking piano lessons at the age of five. Shortly after getting to experience the keys, his interest shifted to the drums. He quickly obtained a trap set and started to perform with a symphonic band. In his own words, "I was always drawn to music by the cool tunes, quirky electronic sounds and deep basses". His early influences include groups like Newcleus, Run DMC, Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, the Pet Shop Boys and many more. In 1988, Wilder first discovered the club scene and was introduced to dj'ing while he was in the Army and stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas. After being released from service, he purchased his first set of used belt driven turntables. One of the rigged up turntables worked at 45rpm while the other played at about
40rpm at its best. Those decks lasted for a couple of years at which point Wilder decided to take a break from the party and music scene for a while. Then in 1994 after listening to "Rave the Rhythm" by Channel X, Wilder bought a pair of Technics 1200's and has been steadily mixing ever since. He is now progressively producing various solo projects as well as working on several collaborative remixes. Over the last few years, Wilder has faced a challenging learning curve while catching up with today's technology and continues to productively move forward. In his own words, " I was also lucky enough to spin at
The Delirium in Austin Texas for many great nights during the entire span of the club's existence". For over two years now, Wilder been dedicated to performing for an international audience on most Friday nights at 7PM US Central Time on
PureDJ.com. In the meantime, Wilder intends to continually play outward and has been in direct negotiations and planning to release his own unique sounds for you to enjoy... so stay tuned! |
